Yeah! Alright! Break out the champers!
At LAST the 3rd album 'A Taste Of Cyanide' is out on our very own GOT label (got 5) + distributed by rockn'roll UK label, Ace Records. Of course its packed with vitriol, poison-penned lyrics + dangerous riffs. Mostly recorded at Gizzard Studio with 3 bonus tracks from Toerag, both using original 60s equipment for that authentic garage sound. There's 15 hipshakin, lipsmackin teasers featuring Girls On Top at their sleazy, teasy, rocking, shocking best, available midprice from 21st July (the CD launch date) from :- G.O.T. …………mail order via e-mail (or at gigs) ACE records…mail order info@acerecords.co.uk Intoxica recordshop...231 Portobello Rd, London W11 P.S. Our previous cd album 'Electroluxury' is still available while stocks last DING DONG!! Now its 2006, it's about time we looked back on last year's highlights! Girls On Top of the bill in Paris in June for Barrocks promotions 20th celebrations, an all-dayer featuring garage punk bands from all over France. It was so hot our pvc shorts nearly melted. Speaking of anniversaries it's our 10th this summer (and still talking to each other!!) same as the Spice Girls ha ha, so look out for special events coming up, including a new CDLP launch. We recorded 11 trax at Ed Deegan's Gizzard studio in May & there's more toe-tapping trax from Toerag included - Ed used to work with Liam at Toerag. More anniversaries!!!! Ace records 30th party in September, held at Dingwalls, Camden, hosted by THE Emperor Rosco and G.O.T. kicked off the celebrations, followed by Radiators from Space & Count Bishops. The booze flowed as we spotted journalist Charles Shaar Murray, Dave Robinson & Jake Riviera (Stiff Records), Doug Smith (ex manager Motorhead) plus hundreds more djs & rockin' showbiz luminaries. We had a hilarious trip up north to Leeds & Hull all squashed in Amanda's car piled up with guitars & gear to play in various funky basement clubs early in 2005 and in October played the funtabulous Dagenham & Redbridge FC mini-fest with mates 999, Vibrators, Stabilizers(ex Prisoners), Toxic Slut. 'IT'S OFFICIAL - GIRLS ON TOP ARE LEGENDARY!' Click here for confirmation. The girls are featured with photos in a new book by Canadian author Michael Yahn called 'Born to Make Noise'. Many thanks to Mel Roxy for standing in for Amanda on bass since June 2003 while she was expecting and coming on tour with us. Now Ms Pukon has given birth to a potential new G.O.T. called Amy, she's back with the band & raring to go! At present Mel is playing guitar with Mica Bomb & has formed her own band Zipshaft. Read about the Girls' French Tour from a couple of years back here The track "Mess" from GOT's first album "Ovulater" features on a German compilation "It's Not Just Boys' Fun" which is available here In April 2003 GOT played PunkAid, a 3 day festival of punk bands in Brixham, Devon all doing it for charity and of course there was one gianormous party. Featured were Chelsea, Penetration, the Parkinsons,(who managed to cover their chalet in breakfast cereal!) TV smith (from the Adverts) ATV, Vibrators, UK Subs, Damned, Dead Kennedys-- loads to see & stalls full of punk clothes, cds & badges- there was even a hair stylist! The bar was rammed with famous punk icons. It's happening again next year in a new location, so book now folks! Here’s some pics of us posing with Camden bandmates Toxic Slut, also playing the same day. In September 2002 G.O.T. toured with Rachel Stamp to read about life on the road GOT-style and see some pics from the tour collect your backstage pass over here Recently unearthed from the musty depths of Vicki's handbag are numerous copies of a 4 track vinyl ep of indie/punk girl tunes on NANA Records including "Boys Meet" a pleasant little ditty about gay sex by the lovely Girls On Top - cruise on over to Intoxica where copies are available for a trifling £2 plus postage Check out a recent interview with our friends and occasional gigmates the Parkinsons where we get a mention as one of their current fave bands Well Girls On Top have been using Toerag Studios for many years now & Liam is always great fun to work with as well as getting a great sound. It seems the success of the White Stripes has put it on the map. The 2 tracks on ‘Ovulater’ recorded there are ‘Auto Pilot’ & ‘Head In The Oven’ and also our secound album 'Electroluxury'. Liam features on the intro as a dirty old man! Here we are messing about in the studio. Vicki has a plastic turd on her head. Neil Downe is playing a 60s farfisa organ on ‘Too Tired To Tie You Up Tonight’. By the way, we also recorded our christmas song at Toerag on the hottest day of the year - which is available only by mail order from Intoxica Records. ‘Wrap Yourself In Tinsel & Give Yourself To Me’ c/w ‘I Hate My Parents’ on cd. |
